The end of 2022 is near, and like every year, Samsung has started releasing the beta builds of One UI 5, which is the 5th iteration of its custom Android skin and is based on Android 13. Currently, these updates are being rolled out to users of the Galaxy S22 series who have opted in to test the beta builds. Note that the roll-out of these updates is currently limited to only a few regions.
The latest version is One UI 5 Beta 3, which brings several new features and refinements to the table. We see animation improvements, a new Gallery app slideshow-style stories feature, themed icon support for more apps, and more.
However, using a beta version of any software does not usually provide a hassle-free experience. There could be several instabilities and issues throughout the system. The same is the case for the Beta 3 build of One UI.
One of the recent issues is the inability to set or change wallpapers. Sammyfans reported that they could not select wallpapers from the Wallpaper and Style section in the settings because the app crashed when they tried to do so. The issue occurs in the Galaxy S22 Ultra; however, Sammyfans believe the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus models may also have the same problem as they received the beta 3 build.
This could be because Samsung has revamped the Wallpaper and Style section in the latest update. While users get access to a rich set of customizations such as new wallpapers, improved color palettes, and more, there could still be bugs present.
So, for now, users should report this issue to the developers so they can fix it in the next update and wait until it gets fixed.
