Vivo has been teasing about a new budget device for quite some days now. And now finally we have the Vivo Z1 Pro against the likes of the much successful Redmi Note 7 Pro. Vivo has a way of surprising everyone with a more than capable device at competitive prices and the Z1 Pro is no exception. So let us take a look at the pros, cons and review of this new budget device, to see if this is the device for you.
Vivo Z1 Pro Pros
As the habit of multimedia streaming on mobile devices has increased significantly, the need for a good big display has also increased. The Vivo Z1 Pro here does not disappoint with its huge 6.53 inch FHD+ IPS panel while maintaining a smaller footprint overall. So we get an immersive experience with a punch hole cut out on the top left-hand side, which looks much better than the waterdrop style implementation.
The Z1 Pro is a budget device priced under Rs 15,000 for the base variant. So seeing a 700 series Snapdragon processor here is quite a surprise. We have seen devices in this segment going for a 600 series processor but a Snapdragon 712 Soc certainly is the best you can ask for at this price range. It is more than capable of running all the latest games without any frame drops and could be a blessing for gamers who are looking for the cheaper gaming device.
Yes, we see a 4,000 mAh battery in most devices nowadays but a 5,000 mAh battery with a powerful processor and 18W fast charging is still a rarity. This device will surely have a lot of juice left even after the end of the day. And with the 18W charger, it will top up quickly and will be ready to go.
Triple Rear camera
Triple rear cameras are a thing now, but it is a feature mostly seen on a flagship or high mid-range devices. To see a three rear camera set up on a Rs 15,000 phone is a head turner for everyone looking for a capable camera phone. We see a 16 MP primary camera, an 8 MP 120-degree wide angle camera and a 2 MP camera for bokeh effects. We also see a 32MP on the front side, so this device does not disappoint in the selfie section too.
Game Mode 5.0
Manufacturers now understand the need for a gaming device by the consumers and there Vivo goes the extra mile by including a Gaming mode 5.0 with the new Z1 Pro. Along with enhanced gaming performance, this comes with 4D vibrations and 3D surround sound.
Vivo Z1 Pro Cons
It is a bit of nitpicking but the difference between an AMOLED panel and an IPS panel is quite evident on hands. So a customer who has used an AMOLED panel device before maybe reluctant to switch to this device.
No stock Android experience
Yes, the device runs on Android pie out of the box but it is heavily customized by Vivo’s very own Funtouch OS. It comes with a bunch of features but you miss out on the clean Android experience here.
No type C port
Where more and more devices are moving towards a Type C USB port for charging and OTG connectivity, the Vivo Z1 Pro takes a step back here by including just the standard USB 2.0 port.
Is Vivo Z1 Pro Worth Buying?
Overall, on paper for a price tag of Rupees 15,000, this device really looks compelling. It has an attractive design and cuts corners on the price by going for a metal and plastic body, instead of the premium glass metal implementation. It is not an issue at all for the price you are paying, and the design on the back may fool anyone into believing that it is indeed a glass body design. So if Rs 15,000 is your budget, this new offering from Vivo might just be the perfect device for you.
The Z1 Pro will be available for purchase on Flipkart starting from 11th of July. We have three variants for this device, the base variant 4GB + 64GB for Rs 14,999, the 6GB + 64GB variant for Rs 16,990 and the top 6GB + 128GB variant for Rs 17,990. All these variants will come in Mirror Black, Sonic Black, and Sonic blue colour options.
