We all are aware that Qualcomm’s smartphone-based flagship chipsets have the potential to challenge the ultimate phone competency. This is a proven history since their Snapdragon flagship SoCs and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is no different. However, the possible new name chosen for it can be Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The company’s biggest competitor is the MediaTek Dimensity processors, which provide neck-to-neck performance, followed by Exynos and Tensor. Hence, they are trying to make it as powerful as possible.
Nonetheless, the Exynos and Tensor are generally considered to be average-performing chips. For the year, Qualcomm will likely unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (namely the Snapdragon 8 Elite), MediaTek will likely unveil the Dimensity 9400, and Samsung will show its Exynos 2500.
To understand the RAW performance, CPU information, and benchmarks, platforms like AnTuTu, Geekbench, Stress and Stability tests, etc. help the individual. Thus, tech lovers run these apps to check smartphones’ competency.
Similarly, the AnTuTu results of both the flagship chipsets are out, thanks to OnLeaks and Smartprix. To those unaware, AnTuTu is a benchmarking tool that helps understand the chipset’s potential.
In the AnTuTu platform, the Snapdragon 8 Elite (8 Gen 4) scores 3,025,991 points, while the Dimensity 9400 scores 3,007,853 points, and the Apple A18 Pro Bionic scores about 1,650,000 points. The device featured during the test is the prototype of realme GT7 Pro.
The difference between the two scores is negligible, but it still shows how powerful the Snapdragon 8 Elite (8 Gen 4) is. We will have to look at Exyno’s performance, but given its history, there’s a very slim chance that Samsung’s foundry will change.
The scores Snapdragon is getting are due to its core arrangement. Two cores are clocked at 4.09GHz, and six cores are clocked at 2.78GHz. The rumors say that there will be two versions. So, the premium variant will be clocked at 4.32GHz for the first two cores. Adreno 830 GPU will power them. In addition, the TSMC-based fabrication process helps companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek to provide better performance and efficiency.
The device powering the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite will be the realme GT7 Pro. Some other companies will also launch their products to compete in the market, such as the OnePlus 13, Vivo X200 Ultra, Xiaomi 15, Oppo Find X8 Ultra, and many more. However, the chipset’s tuning varies from smartphone to smartphone. It depends on smartphone OEMs how to optimize the processor efficiently.
From the above AnTuTu benchmarks, we cannot draw conclusions solely and completely. Let’s see how the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 performs in real-life applications.
