Qualcomm released Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 this year instead of Snapdragon 898. The exact naming change is going to happen with the 700 series processors. The successor of the Snapdragon 778G could be called the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Leaks have already revealed most of the specs of the processor. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is said to come with four Arm Cortex-A710 and four Arm Cortex-A510 cores and an Adreno 662 GPU. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which has four ARM Cortex A710 performance cores, four ARM Cortex A510 efficiency cores, and one Cortex X2 high-performance core, it does not even come close.

According to the tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo Reno 8 might be one of the first phones to feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung Vivo, and OnePlus may also release their mid-range smartphones with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.
