Sharp Pi Smartphone Launched with Dual Rear Cameras

Japanese Smartphone manufacturer SHARP launched another smartphone for the Vietnamese and Indonesian markets along with the SHARP R1S. The SHARP Pi has model number IF 9007 and shares hardware with the InFocus A3.

In terms of design, the Pi is an entry-level smartphone with a plastic backing and two backbone strands running backward. The front includes a home button, a fingerprint sensor, and two navigational buttons. It is available in black and gold color variants.

As for the specifications, the SHARP Pi features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD of HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit Quad-Core MediaTek MT6737T chipset clocked at 1.3 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB internal storage, which is expandable by a micro SD card.

In the optics department, the device has dual rear cameras of a 12 MP CMOS sensor and a 2 MP CMOS sensor. On the front, it offers an 8 MP CMOS camera sensor for selfies and video calling. Like the R1S, the cameras are stacked horizontally along with the LED Flash.

It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery, enough to run a day with moderate use and little casual gaming. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Dual SIM (nano), and more. It supports LTE UE Category 4, which can give up to 150 Mbps downloading speed and 50 Mbps uploading speed.

The SHARP Pi is available only in Vietnam and Indonesia with a price tag of 2,990,000 Vietnamese Dong( Rs 8,500 approx) and 1,899,000 Indonesian Rupiah ( Rs 9,000 approx)  respectively. At this price tag, it will be going against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5 series and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. There is currently no word about the device’s international launch.
