Sharp Aquos V (SH-C02) with Snapdragon 835 SoC will Launch Soon

A Sharp smartphone with model number SH-C02 has passed Bluetooth SIG and Taiwan’s NCC certification. The model is also spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing its key features.

The smartphone’s diagram in the NCC certification document reveals it will feature a dual-camera setup (placed vertically) and a circular fingerprint sensor on the back. The diagram also includes a label indicating the device’s name as Sharp Aquos V.

According to the information released by Taiwan’s government agency – the National Communications Commission (NCC), the Aquos V will support dual SIM and Taiwan’s full 4G band.

As per the Geekbench listing, the Sharp Aquos V has an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform (MSM8998) processor with 4GB of RAM. It comes with Android 9 Pie OS. The benchmark results are 1911 points for Single-Core performance and 6564 points for Multi-Core performance.

The Bluetooth SIG certification listing shows that the Sharp Aquos V supports Bluetooth 5.0 technology.

Other rumored specifications of Sharp Aquos V include a 5.93-inch FHD+ display (2160 x 1080 pixels) with no notch, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, a 3126 mAh battery, 13MP + 13MP dual camera, and a single 8MP front camera.

At present, almost all top manufacturers are developing their smartphones with the Snapdragon 855 Plus flagship processor. But, the Japanese phone makers are making handsets that sport outdated hardware. Yes, their upcoming mid-range phone Aquos V will hit the market soon with Snadpdarog 835 – the chipset that powered flagship phones in 2017. So, it will be interesting to see how Sharp competes against other companies developing their mid-range smartphones powered by the latest chipset.

Update 17/08/2019: On August 16, Sharp launched its flagship smartphone, Sharp Aquos R3, in Taiwan. At the launch event, the company also announced that its mid-range smartphone, Sharp Aquos V, will be unveiled in Taiwan in the fourth quarter of 2019.
