SHARP AQUOS S3 Mini Launched with FHD+ Display and 20MP Front Camera

Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sharp has launched the  Sharp Aquos S3 mini in China but didn’t launch the rumored AQUOS S3. The device sports a metal body with a glass back.

As for the specs, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved display with a resolution of FHD+ (2040 x 1080 pixels) and contains a top-notch like the Apple iPhone X, because of which it has an 87.5% screen-to-body ratio. The notch holds the front camera and looks odd because of its shape. Under the hood, it is powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset with Adreno 508 GPU coupled with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128 GB with a micro SD card.

The device offers a 16 MP rear camera with LED Flash, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture while offering a 20 MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front. The front camera has AI portrait selfies and a Face Unlock feature that claims to unlock the phone in 0.1 seconds by scanning 1024 facial points.

The Sharp Aquos S3 mini runs on Smile UX based on Android 7.11 Nougat (the same as the Aquos S2) and is backed by a 3020 mAh battery support for 5V/2A fast charging. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, Hybrid Dual SIM, USB Type-C, 3.5 mm headphone jack and more. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, digital compass, and a front fingerprint sensor.

The Sharp Aquos S3 mini is available in three color variants- Black, Blue, and Gold. It comes with a price tag of 1599 Yuan (Rs 16,500 approx) and is available in China through the online retailer jd.com.
