Samsung One UI 8.5 beta update appears to move forward for Galaxy S24 series

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta cycle may not be done with the Galaxy S24 lineup just yet. After the S25 series yesterday a new test build has now surfaced for S24 series, hinting that another beta release could be on the way.

The development was shared by tipster Tarun Vats on X, who spotted a fresh firmware version tied to the Galaxy S24 series. While Samsung has not made anything official, the appearance of a new build typically signals continued internal testing.

The timing is notable. Many expected the beta program to be nearing its final stages.

New build number points to ongoing testing

According to the leak, the latest One UI 8.5 beta build carries the version identifier ZZDJ, replacing the earlier ZZDD build that had been circulating among testers.

The jump in build numbers is small but meaningful. Samsung usually increments these identifiers as it iterates on bug fixes, stability improvements, and last-minute feature tweaks. A shift from ZZDD to ZZDJ suggests multiple internal revisions have taken place since the previous beta surfaced.

That pattern often precedes a public beta rollout.

It does not confirm timing. But it narrows the window.

What this could mean for Beta 4

The presence of a newer test build strongly indicates that Beta 4 for the Galaxy S24 series may be in development. Samsung typically pushes several beta updates before declaring a release candidate, especially for major One UI revisions tied to Android platform upgrades.

If Beta 4 does arrive, it will likely focus on refinement rather than introducing new features. Expect incremental fixes, performance tuning, and compatibility adjustments across core apps and system animations.

Samsung has followed a similar cadence in previous beta programs. Multiple late-stage updates tend to address user-reported issues before a stable rollout begins.

Real-world impact for users

For users already enrolled in the beta program, another update would likely mean continued improvements in day-to-day usability. Minor bugs, battery inconsistencies, or UI glitches reported in earlier builds could see resolution.

Those waiting on the stable release may need a bit more patience.

Each additional beta usually pushes the final rollout slightly further out, even if it results in a more polished experience at launch.

The bigger question now is whether Samsung is aiming for a near-final build with the next update, or if the testing cycle will extend beyond four beta versions.
