Samsung’s Galaxy S27 lineup could be taking a different approach to its flagship design than previously expected. According to a new post from Ice Universe on X, what had been described as two versions of the Galaxy S27 Ultra are actually two separate models — the Galaxy S27 Ultra and a smaller Galaxy S27 Pro.
Ice Universe says the red model shown in the leaked design images is the Galaxy S27 Ultra, while the lavender model represents the Galaxy S27 Pro. Both appear to share Samsung’s new camera island design, but their physical dimensions and S Pen support reportedly set them apart.
Two models instead of two Ultra versions
Ice Universe says there are not two different versions of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Instead, Samsung is apparently preparing an Ultra and a Pro model, with one larger than the other.

The leaked renders show a familiar rectangular phone shape with rounded corners and a large rear camera area. The camera island contains two circular camera openings on the left and a vertically elongated element beside them, giving both models a noticeably different appearance from recent Galaxy Ultra phones.
The red S27 Ultra appears to be the larger device. The lavender S27 Pro is slightly smaller, although the images don’t provide dimensions to quantify the difference.
That distinction could matter more than the color differences suggest.
The S Pen remains exclusive to the Ultra
The biggest functional separation is reportedly the S Pen. Ice Universe says the Galaxy S27 Ultra will continue to support Samsung’s stylus, while the Galaxy S27 Pro will not include S Pen support.
That would give Samsung a clearer hierarchy between the two models. The S27 Pro could target buyers who want a high-end Galaxy phone in a somewhat smaller body without needing the productivity features associated with the Ultra.
The approach would also resemble Samsung’s broader strategy of using the Ultra name to distinguish its most feature-heavy flagship. Camera hardware, display specs, battery capacity, and other differences remain unknown, so it is too early to determine how far the two models will differ.
A smaller flagship could fill an obvious gap
Samsung has offered multiple flagship sizes for years, but the Ultra has generally occupied the largest and heaviest end of the lineup. A smaller Pro model could give buyers another option without requiring them to step down to the standard Galaxy S model.
The camera design shown in these renders suggests Samsung may also want the two phones to look like members of the same flagship family rather than simply different-sized versions of the same device.
A lot remains unanswered. Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S27 series, and details such as pricing, launch timing, chipset configuration, and camera specifications remain unconfirmed.
The bigger question may be how Samsung positions the S27 Pro. If it retains much of the Ultra’s hardware while dropping the S Pen and shrinking the device, its price could determine whether it becomes a meaningful alternative or just another tier in an increasingly crowded Galaxy lineup.
