Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S26 FE, bringing several of its latest camera and Galaxy AI features to the more affordable FE tier. The phone is also the first Galaxy S26-series model to ship with One UI 9, according to Samsung’s August 27 announcement.
For buyers looking for flagship-style features without moving to Samsung’s higher-end S26 models, the Galaxy S26 FE focuses heavily on cameras, AI tools, battery life, and long-term software support. Pricing starts at $699.99 in the U.S.
Galaxy S26 FE focuses on camera and AI upgrades
The Galaxy S26 FE uses a triple-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom. Samsung also lists a 12MP front camera, along with Nightography and Super Steady with Horizontal Lock for video recording.
One notable addition is My FanCam, which Samsung previously introduced on its newer foldable phones. The feature tracks a selected person and automatically reframes video to keep them centered, reducing the need to manually adjust footage afterward.
Photo Assist extends the AI focus into editing. Users can make changes through natural-language prompts, while Gemini Omni can turn photos and videos stored in the Gallery into edited video clips. Samsung says Galaxy S26 FE buyers will also receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, although the Gemini Omni feature requires an eligible subscription.
One UI 9 brings more context-aware features to the FE model. Now Brief gains customizable briefing cards, while Now Nudge can surface suggested actions from supported apps and notifications. Circle to Search can also identify multiple items in a single image.
Hardware stays close to the flagship formula
The Galaxy S26 FE has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,900 nits of brightness. It measures 7.4mm thick and weighs 193 grams. Samsung lists the Exynos 2500, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
The 4,900mAh battery supports 45W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung’s release says the phone can reach up to 69% charge in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter, although the detailed specifications section lists the figure as up to 65% in the same timeframe. The adapter is sold separately.
Samsung is also promising seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. That gives the S26 FE a longer software runway than many phones in its price class, assuming Samsung maintains the promised schedule.
Availability could decide the FE’s value
In the U.S., Galaxy S26 FE carrier availability starts September 3, followed by broader availability through Samsung, carriers and retailers on September 4. It comes in Blueberry, Graphite and Pistachio, with pricing starting at $699.99.
For buyers, the more interesting question may be how the S26 FE’s $699 starting price compares with discounted Galaxy S-series flagships once the phone reaches retailers. The combination of a 3x telephoto camera, One UI 9, seven years of security updates, and a 120Hz AMOLED display gives the Samsung S26 FE a strong feature set to work with, but real-world value will depend heavily on launch promotions and how far the regular Galaxy S26 price falls.
