Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) Specs and Official Renders Leaked

South Korean smartphone manufacturer is refreshing its lower smartphone models, especially the  J2 (2017) launched just two months ago in India. We recently reported that the next J2 version of 2018 will not be known as J2 Pro and will be just named Galaxy J2 (2018), eliminating the protag.

Today, even before the device is formally announced, details and official product images have been leaked, leaving nothing to the imagination or doubt. Earlier this month, a few renders and a 360-degree video surfaced online. Also, even the device manual was uploaded to the Samsung official website.

According to Twitter user Zyad Atef, the Galaxy J2 (2018) will have a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a qHD (960×540 pixels) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Since Samsung relies on a diamond matrix, the qHD resolution will likely suffer lower sharpness. The device will be powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, which features four ARM Cortex-A53 cores at 1.4 GHz. The smartphone will offer 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage with an expandable memory option and a microSD card.

In the optics department, the J2 (2018) will feature an 8 MP camera on the rear with an LED flash and 5 MP on the front, also with an LED flash for selfies and video calling. The smartphone will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and there is no word about the device getting an Android 8.0 Oreo update.

A 2600 mAh removable battery will back the device with Dual SIM support. Connectivity features like N-WLAN, Bluetooth 4.2, Micro USB, and more will be there. The device will be housing a plastic body and will weigh 153 g.

The report specifies that the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) will be officially unveiled in the upcoming weeks. Russia will be among the first countries to get the phone, where the J2 is expected to come with a price tag of 8000 roubles (Rs 8000 approx). This will likely make this device the most affordable smartphone from Samsung in 2018. However, competition is stiff, and many manufacturers give higher specs at the same price tag. The devices are namely 10.or D, Redmi 5A, and the Micromax Bharat 5.
