Last week, a Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G8850, aka Galaxy A9 Star, was certified by TENAA. Later, a hands-on smartphone video surfaced online, revealing a Full-Screen Infinity display with minimal bezels and a dual camera setup with LED flash stacked vertically in the top left corner, accompanied by a ‘squarish’ fingerprint sensor in the middle.
Today, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star has been certified by Taiwan’s National Communications (NCC) website. It is spotted with model number SM- G885Y/DS, which hints at the Dual SIM feature of the phone. The smartphone confirms the previous dual rear camera setup leak with the fingerprint sensor. The phone is also expected to sport a glass back. The device has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. The NCC certification also suggests that a pair of earphones will come bundled with a wall adapter and USB Type-C cable. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the left side, while there is a third button on the right, which we expect to be the Bixby assistant button.
The TENNA list shows that the smartphone’s AMOLED infinity Display is 6.2 inches with a resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz and 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM.
In the back, the dual cameras have 16MP + 24 MP configuration while the front is 24MP. The smartphone will be IP68 certified dust, and water-resistant and will run Android Oreo out of the box. It will be backed by a 3,700 mAh battery with support for fast charging. It will be available in Blue and Black color variants.
There is no word about the pricing or launch date, but the appearance hints the launch will be in the upcoming weeks. We can expect the South Korean manufacturer to drop a teaser soon.
