Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) to Get Android 8.0 Oreo Update Soon

South Korean manufacturer Samsung launched the Galaxy A8 (2018) with Android 7.1.1 and the Samsung Experience 8.5 UI. While the company has updated many Galaxy series smartphones like the Galaxy S7 series or the 2017 A-series, the 2018 A8 series is yet to get an official update. The A8 is one of the major mid-rangers this year, but the development team has been too busy providing updates for other smartphones, hence the delay.

According to two new reports from  GalaxyClub and SamMobile, Samsung has started working on the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy A8 (2018). The smartphone currently runs on firmware version A520FXXU2ARD1, while the company is working on A530FXXU2BRDx, showing a transition from A to B. Such changes also occur with updates with new features without changing the Android version, which is doubtful for a smartphone like Galaxy A8 (2018).

The firmware version is still in its early stages, so we can expect at least some weeks before it is rolled out. Also, if we go by the timeline, the Galaxy A5 (2017) was updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in August, while the A5 (2016) was upgraded at the end of July. The Galaxy A8 (2018) series can expect the same timing. We can expect a few small Galaxy A8 updates before the company releases the final one. These small rollouts will only include the new security patches.
