Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M31 from a gamers perspective
If you are a gamer or use your Smartphone mostly for playing games like PUBG or Call of duty you fall into this category. If you are searching for a Smartphone under Rs 16,000 or in the mid-range segment for gaming and Redmi Note 8 Pro and Galaxy M31 is in your radar we will tell you what to choose based it their respective specifications.
For a gaming phone, three things matter the most the CPU, display and the battery. So let’s discuss these three sections.
CPU:
This is the most important aspect for a gamer on deciding his Smartphone. Here Redmi Note 8 Pro uses MediaTek Helio G90T whereas Samsung Galaxy M31 uses there in house Exynos 9611. Now if we look at the benchmarking score of MediaTek Helio G90T it scores 490 in Single-Core and 1628 in Multi-Core where Exynos 9611 scores 348 in Single-Core and 1347 in Multi-Core in Geekbench 5.1.0 so we can clearly see Helio G90T is winning.
Helio G90T is 40% faster in Single-Core and 20% faster in Multi-Core performance compared to Exynos 9611 according to these benchmarking scores. So gamer can expect a few more frames and smoother gaming experience from Redmi Note 8 Pro compared to Samsung Galaxy M31.
GPU:
Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with Mali-G76 MC4 GPU whereas Samsung Galaxy M31 will come with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. If we look at AnTuTu benchmarking scores of Mali-G76, it scores 79,857 whereas Mali-G72 scores only 47,492. So GPU power of Redmi Note 8 Pro is 68% more powerful than Samsung Galaxy M31.
Battery:
For a Smartphone gamer, battery life is quite important because no one like to charge their phones frequently between gaming sessions. Here Samsung Galaxy M31’s massive 6000 mAh battery with 15W charging is a big plus point for anyone who wants long battery life. Redmi Note 8 Pro also offers 4500 mAh battery with 18W charging but still, that extra 1500 mAh of Galaxy M31’s battery is a massive difference for anyone who doesn’t want to compromise anything regarding the battery life.
So, at last, we can say if you are a hardcore gamer and want better raw performance then going with Redmi Note 8 Pro is a wise decision however if you want better battery life then clearly Samsung Galaxy M31 is for you.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M31 from a Smartphone camera enthusiasts perspective
In the camera department specifications doesn’t look very much different from each other. Redmi Note 8 Pro is equipped with Quad rear camera setup; a 64MP main sensor with f/1.9, an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 for ultra-wide shots, a 2MP sensor with f/2.4 for macro shots and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor & for the front camera it is equipped with a 20MP sensor with f/2.0 for selfies.
Coming to the Samsung Galaxy M31; it is also equipped with Quad rear camera setup; a 64MP main sensor with f/1.8, an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 for ultra-wide shots, a 5MP sensor with f/2.4 for macro shots and a 5MP f/2.2 depth sensor & for the front camera it is equipped with a 32MP sensor with f/2.0 for selfies.
By looking at these detail camera specification we don’t see any huge difference in camera specs except MegaPixel count in the front camera of Galaxy M31 so we suggest you check some sample images from Samsung Galaxy M31’s camera to see how it compares with Redmi Note 8 Pro’s camera if you are mainly buying the Smartphone for Photography or Videography.
Redmi Note 8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M31 from a heavy multimedia content consumers perspective
For a heavy content consumer who likes to watch lots of movies, YouTube videos, Netflix and other streaming content in their Smartphone’s two things matters the most; Display and Battery life. We have already seen Galaxy M31 has the upper hand when it comes to the battery life now let’s discuss the display of both devices.
Display:
Samsung Galaxy M31 is equipped with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED screen with 411 PPI pixel density whereas Redmi Note 8 Pro is equipped with a 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen with 395 PPI pixel density and we all know how vivid is an AMOLED display is compared to an IPS display. So looking at both displays we can say Galaxy M31 has a slight advantage in this section but still, Redmi Note 8 Pro’s screen is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 which is a plus point for it. Both displays are 60 Hz refresh rate capable only.
So if you are a heavy content consumer going with Samsung Galaxy M31 will be a better choice due to its AMOLED screen. Also, the massive 6000 mAh battery of Galaxy M31 will be a definite plus.

Since camera specs of the smartphone are same and Redmi Note 8 pro has better Mediatek CPU, it is probably the better choice.

you have to be insane to buy Samsung Galaxy M31 when the benchmark results are clearly in favour of Mediatek Helio G90 processor in redmi note 8 pro

We would always opt for a better CPU and Helio G90T is always a better option. So Redmi Note 8 Pro is a good option.
