Redmi Note 8 Pro Now Support ARCore (Google Play Services for AR)

Augmented Reality, commonly known as AR, is nothing but digital or virtual information overlaid on the real world. People can interact simultaneously with the real world and virtual objects. To enjoy AR, specialized hardware like Microsoft Holo lens, etc., is required. Different kinds of sensors and cameras are required to achieve AR. Apple stood out and launched an AR kit that does not require any external or specialized hardware or anything. The Apple mobile phones, which will have iOS 11, will support Augmented Reality. This is a good step by Apple as many people can use and experience AR.

Google was also working on their AR kit, and a few years back, they unveiled their Google AR core. This is a piece of awesome news as Android people can also have fun with AR apps with the help of Google AR Core. Initially, for development purposes, Google AR core was launched only for Samsung’s Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus and Google’s Pixel and Pixel XL phones. Google plans to provide AR for all Android phones.

As of now, AR is compatible with a few Android devices. A lot of Xiaomi phones also started to support AR. Until now, Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi 9, Mi 9 SE, Mi A3, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Mix 3, Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro supported AR. Before, Redmi Note 8 Pro was incapable of Google AR core support; even in the Google Play store, there is an incompatible message for “Google Play Services for AR.”

But the bad news doesn’t stay long. A few hours back, one of the Redditors mentioned in a post that Redmi Note 8 Pro supports Google Play Services for AR, which means you can download AR-based apps directly from the Google Play Store officially. Redmi Note 8 Pro users have also shared screenshots via Twitter and Mi Community saying that ARCore is now compatible with their device.
