Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi 6 May Not Receive Android 10 Update

Both phones are currently running on Android 9.0 (Pie)

Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacture of smartphones are known for the cheap price phones with high specs. The company was founded in 2010 and it has been a grand success in the market. The company was so successful they decided to have standalone brands like POCO and Redmi.

Earlier we had entry-level low budget phones of Redmi, now that it has become a separate brand the company no longer focuses on entry-level phones. Now we have premium phones like Redmi K30 and K20 in the picture. These phones have the premium look and specs at a very reasonable price which makes it a competition to other flagship phones from other brands.

Since Redmi has flagship devices, they are now going to break the rule of a single OS upgrade software policy which Redmi was previously known for. But don’t get your hopes too high. The single OS upgrade policy is still applicable for Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi 6. According to the policy, both the phones already got upgraded from Android 8 Oreo out of the box to Android 9 Pie.

In a recent post in Mi forum, a moderator clearly says that the Redmi Note 6 Pro might not get an Android 10 update. Moreover, it’s not a different case for Redmi 6. The same moderator said in another post that the Redmi 6 is deprived of the Android 10 update.

There is good news though. You can still flash your ROM with Android 10 based LineageOS 17.1 once they made a custom OS for Redmi 6 and Redmi Note 6 Pro. The LineageOS 17.1 is already available for Poco F1, Mi 8, Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 6, Redmi 7A, Redmi 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro and even the Redmi 5A. So don’t worry Redmi Note 6 and Redmi 6 will get the LineageOS 17.1 update soon. Till then stay tuned for further updates and stay home.
