Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi from China, has now become a platform for entry-level and mid-range devices, and they are doing pretty well by themselves. Redmi has their flagship phones to compete with other flagship phones. Earlier, Redmi launched its major flagship phone, the Redmi K20 Pro, and a medium-ranged Redmi K20 in June 2019. Both phones entered the market with a bang, and people embraced both phones. Redmi K20 and K20 Pro were launched with Android 9 and, later, got updated to Android 10.
Redmi K20 and K20 Pro Android 11 Update
The final version of Android 11 is now official. The users of Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are worried whether they will receive the update or not. According to us, the answer is yes. The reason is that the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro received their first major OS update in January 2020 and September 2019, respectively. So, according to Xiaomi’s software policy, both devices could be eligible for the second major update, i.e., the Android 11 update.
Release Date
Xiaomi will push the beta update initially to various devices, check for bugs, and fix it in the main update. Till now, we are not sure whether the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro users will receive the beta update or not. But we expect to see a global release of bugless stable Android 11 for K20 and K20 Pro between September 2020 and January 2021. At present, Xiaomi has offered its customized UI MIUI 12 to the Redmi K20 series. So, Redmi K20 and K20 Pro users are experiencing MIUI 12, but it is based on Android 10 OS. The Android 11-based MIUI 12 will be rolled out later. We will let you know if there are any further updates.
About Redmi K20 & K20 Pro
Redmi K20 is a medium-range phone, and K20 Pro is a flagship phone. Both phones have a display size of 6.39-inch (1080 x 2340 pixels). Both the display are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The K20 is powered by Qualcomm SDM730 Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor with Adreno 618. The K20 Pro is powered by the flagship-level Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor with Adreno 640. As of now, both the devices are currently running on Android 10.
Coming to RAM and storage, K20 has a RAM of 6GB with two variants of internal storage viz. 64GB & 128GB. The K20 Pro has two variants of RAM viz. 6GB & 8GB with two variants of internal storage viz. 128GB & 256GB. Both phones have no SD card slots.
Furthermore, the rear and front cameras for both phones are the same. The back camera has a triple camera setting with 48MP (main) + 8MP (Telephoto) + 13MP (Ultrawide). We see a trendy 20MP Pop-up selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. Both the devices have 4000 mAh of juice with fast charging.
