Google Pixel 7a to Launch with 90Hz Display, Dual Camera, and Wireless Charging

After the Google Pixel 7 series launch, the Search Engine Tech Giant is preparing for another addition to the series — Google Pixel 7a. For reference, the company announced its most awaited Pixel 7 series, which, for now, includes Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, on October 6 in India. Fans and enthusiasts much loved the series, and Google is planning for an addition to the series, which will probably be priced less than both of them. The company is working on a small-screen flagship smartphone, which will probably be the Google Pixel 7a.

If we talk about the Pixel 6a, it was a pretty decent offering by the company for its asking price, and the price during sales and offers was overwhelming. It’s too early to talk about the successor of Pixel 6a, but our tech space and enthusiasts have something we should expect for the upcoming Google Pixel 7a.

Talking about the leak that arrived in September by Kuba Wojciechowski (who has been accurate for most of the time), the codename leaked from the source code of the Pixel 7 series was ‘Lynx’ and ‘Felix.’ The lynx one was assumed to be the Google Pixel 7a/Google Pixel 7 Mini, and the latter was believed to be the upcoming Google Pixel Fold, unveiled in 2023.

As leaked by Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter, the upcoming Pixel 7a is supposed to feature a 90 Hz panel, support for wireless charging, and a new rear camera setup compared to the predecessor.

Google Pixel 7a might feature an upgraded camera to the Pixel 6a:

Further talking about the device, Kuba Wojciechowski, by researching the camera drivers, has found that the Pixel 7a will follow a dual rear camera setup carrying an ultra wide-angle camera and a selfie shooter with an IMX 712 sensor. The listed camera setup is known as the “Pixel 22 Mid-range.” By updating the camera drivers, Google removes the GN1 moniker used on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, hinting towards an upgraded camera in the upcoming Pixel 7a.

By doing a detailed analysis and digging out the codes more and more, two rear camera modes have come out, i.e., “l10_wide” (IMX787) and “l10_UW” (IMX712). For reference, the Pixel 6a used a Sony IMX363 sensor in the rear. Considering the assumptions and if relied on released codes, we can expect a significant change in the camera department with the upcoming Pixel 7a.

Will Google Pixel 7a feature wireless charging?

Adding more to the news, the upcoming Pixel 7a has been reported to feature wireless charging. This will be interesting as none of the released “A” series devices from Pixel have wireless charging capabilities, and Pixel 7a will be the first to do so. Unfortunately, as Wojciechowski found, the smartphone’s wireless charging is limited to 5W. This could be a deal breaker for some Pixel 7 fans, but something is always better than nothing. And to add further, this is not confirmed; the leaked result may vary.

Will Google Pixel 7a arrive with a 90Hz panel?

Regarding the display specifications, Wojciechowski has claimed (no source, though) that the upcoming Pixel 7a might feature a 90 Hz 1080P Panel from Samsung. The “Lynx” device with a 1080P panel was also confirmed earlier, which was used on Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7 but with 60 Hz. Per the leaks, the Pixel 7a may arrive with a 90 Hz 1080P display.

To sum up, according to the leaks reported by Wojciechowski in one attempt, the upcoming Pixel 7a is likely going to feature the following significant changes than the Pixel 6a:

  • The Pixel 7a might feature an upgraded Sony IMX787 sensor than its predecessor.
  • Based on rumors, the Pixel 7a will likely have wireless charging capabilities limited to 5W.
  • The device may feature a 90 Hz 1080P Panel.

With all the above-upgraded specifications, the Pixel 7a looks excellent if it comes with an aggressive price like the Pixel 7 series. Let’s hope; when the company launches the device and at what cost? In our opinion, if the device comes to around 35,000-40,000 INR, then it will be a great deal.

What do you expect from the upcoming Pixel 7a? Do you like the leaked details of the device? At What price do you expect Google will launch Pixel 7a? Do tell us in the comments section below.
