MediaTek has released its new upper mid-range chip, the Dimensity 8200 5G. It is the successor to the Dimensity 8100 that was earlier this year. Just like its elder brother— the Dimensity 9200 5G, the Dimensity 8200 5G is a 4nm chip based on TSMC’s node. It is a decent upgrade over the Dimensity 8100 5G, but not a big one.
Smartphone manufacturers are ready to launch phones powered by the Dimensity 8200 5G. If we go by the past trends, phones should start appearing by the end of the month. But what smartphones will come with Dimensity 8200? Let’s find out in this article.
MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G Processor
The MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G is based on TSMC’s latest 4nm fabrication process and features a total of eight cores, including one primary Cortex A78 core clocked at 3.1 GHz, three Cortex A78 performance cores clocked at 3 GHz, and four Cortex A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2 GHz. It also has the new MediaTek APU 580 for AI processing.
The new Dimensity processor comes with the ARM Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, the same as the Dimensity 8100. However, the Dimensity 8200 comes with MediaTek HyperEngine 6.0 for smoother gaming performance. It also supports quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM at a maximum clock speed of 6400 MHz and UFS 3.1 storage.
The chipset has decent display support with up to 2K resolution at 120Hz and 1080p resolution at 180Hz. It also supports MediaTek MiraVision 785, MediaTek intelligent Display Sync 2.0, and 4K AV1 Video Decoding. It also supports sub-6 GHz 5G, 5G NR, dual 5G SIM, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
The new 14-bit HDR ISP now supports a maximum camera resolution of 320MP. It also supports dual exposure HDR video recording and the ability to shoot 4K video @60 FPS. Overall, it is a great processor and worthy of looking forward to.

Redmi has already confirmed that the Redmi K60E will launch with the Dimensity 8200 5G. The company has released a poster of the Redmi K60E, which they confirmed.
iQOO has already launched the iQOO NEO 7 SE in China. It has a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, MediaTek Dimensity 8200 5G chip, 64MP + 2MP + 2MP triple rear camera setup, 16MP front camera, and 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging. It is priced at CNY 2,099 in China. We can expect it to launch in India and other markets very soon.

The list may seem underwhelming, but several other phones will launch soon with Dimensity 8200. The Dimensity 8200 is a great chip that offers fast connectivity and excellent GPU performance. It is an excellent upper-mid-range processor. Many smartphone manufacturers, especially Chinese ones, will use this processor in their smartphones. While MediaTek has not announced anything about the smartphone manufacturers that will bring the chip to the market, it is sure that we will soon see many phones launching with the new chip.
