OxygenOS 10 Android 10

OxygenOS 10 Based on Android 10 Update: How to Install on OnePlus Phones?

Oneplus has never been slow on updates. They will always bring their devices up to date with even the latest security updates, let alone the Android updates. So now that Android 10 is official and running stable on Pixel devices, Oneplus has swooped in as only the third series of devices to have the Android 10 update based on OxygenOS 10. As soon as Android 10 was launched, it was made available to the Pixel devices. Next on the line was the forgotten beauty, the Essential phone. And now we have the Oneplus latest series devices, Oneplus 7 and Oneplus 7 Pro.

OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10

The updates from Oneplus are not a wide rollout; it will be a phased rollout. This is nothing new, as even before, Oneplus has done the same thing with all of its major updates. The transition from Android 9 to Android 10 is a big step, and there is a chance in the initial days, there will be lots of bugs. So, Oneplus here takes a cautionary move by pushing the update out to a few Oneplus 7 devices, and depending on the bugs the users of these particular devices come across, a much wider update will be pushed out as an OTA update. After the bugs are reported and Oneplus fixes all these small hiccups, the company will finally take the chance and hand the OxygenOS 10 update with Android 10 OS out to every Oneplus 7 user. This is a good approach as it allows Oneplus to keep its promises to its users regarding timely and stable updates.

What has changed in the latest OxygenOS 10?

In terms of software updates, this is a very big change. A lot has changed in terms of appearance for Android 10, and the latest OxygenOS incorporates it all for the Oneplus 7 and Oneplus 7 Pro. We see a system-wide change in terms of basic features along with a brand-new Android UI design. One of the big changes we see is the customization setting on the settings menu, which gives the user the ability to change the icon size, font(size and style), system accent, and so on. Android 10 was launched with new navigation gestures, and OxygenOS 10, on top of maintaining their very own navigation gestures seen before, also comes with gestures where if you slide inwards from the left or right of the screen, the back function is performed. Again, we see the pill size button on the bottom to control multitasking and switching between apps.

Gaming Mode is no longer present in the settings menu or on the shortcut menu on top. Instead, we have Game Space here, where all the games are stored in one place. And when one launches a game from here, some alterations will come in, and the users will experience an enhanced gaming performance. With the Snapdragon 855 working together with Game Space, we can expect a no-lag gaming experience here, that is, if the Internet connection is not poor. On top of it, we also see Android 10’s smart display feature, which brings in new optimizations in the Ambient Display section.

When will you receive the update?

Well, if you earn the latest from Oneplus, there is still a very chance that you have not yet received the OxygenOS 10 update. This is because only a select few will receive the Android 10 updates in the first patch, and only after fixing all the major bugs experienced by these selected few users the wider global rollout from Oneplus will come into action. If there is any serious issue with the update, the entire update will be kept on hold, and only after everything works perfectly will Oneplus push the OTA update all over the globe.

How to Download OxygenOS 10?

Well, if you can’t wait till the global update is pushed out, you can just download the OTA update from the XDA developer forum. Someone was able to grab their hand on the update and uploaded it on XDA for anyone to use.

PiunikaWeb has also added download links to the full update package of OxygenOS 10 for the OnePlus 7/ 7 Pro (Global & EU).

There is also a more straightforward approach, where you can just launch a VPN app and connect to Germany’s server. As soon as you do so, you will receive the OTA update directly on the device. Now, Oneplus suggests users wait a while rather than using a VPN app to get their hands on the OxygenOS 10. But if you are willing to look over the fact that there might be a few nasty bugs in this new update, you can get the latest OxygenOS 10 immediately using one of the abovementioned methods.
