Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has launched a new device in their A-series today in China. Dubbed as the OPPO A73, the device was spotted in TENAA two months ago along with the OPPO A79 which was launched in China recently. The A79 is almost similar in design expect with the display, rear camera resolution and battery capacity.
The OPPO A73 sports a 6-inch TFT-LTPS screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of HD+(2160 x 1080 pixels). The device has very minimum bezels and an edge to edge display. There is a fingerprint sensor on the rear. The device measures 156.5 x 76.0 x 7.5 mm and weighs 152 g. There is only one memory variant of this device, but it comes with Champagne and Black colour options.
The smartphone will be powered by an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763T processor clocked at 2.5 GHz coupled with Mali G71 MP2 GPU. The device offers 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which is further expandable to 128 GB with micro SD.
On the optics department, the smartphone offers a 13 MP rear camera with f2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front offers a 16 MP camera with f2.0 aperture. Being a selfie-centric device, it is strange that the company didn’t include a front flash. The camera comes with Auto-focus, 1080p video recording and some common camera modes.
The OPPO A73 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with Color OS 3.2 and is backed by a 3200 mAh battery with fast charging support. Connectivity includes Dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wifi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS.
As for the pricing, the OPPO A73 comes with a price tag of 1699 yuan (Rs 16,500 approx) which is a tad costly considering its specs. It will be competing against the likes of Honor 7X, Moto G5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi A1 and the Vivo Y75 which was also launched today. The device is available only in China now, and there is no word about its global release, but it’s likely to be launched in some Asian countries soon.
