Google has released the developer preview of Android 12 already for their pixel lineup. This developer preview build is for Android app developers to work on their apps and make them compatible with the upcoming iteration of Android, Android 12. Currently, only the Pixel devices have the developer preview build of Android 12. After a couple of months, we will get the beta build of Android 12, and this is where phones other than Pixels will join in and use Android in its beta form.
Last year, we had the Oneplus 8 and Oneplus 8 Pro receiving a preview build update in June with Android 11 in its beta form. Later on, Android 11-based stable OxygenOS 11 was released after the stable build of Android 11 was released by Google. So far, only the Oneplus 8, Oneplus 8 Pro, and Oneplus 8T are the OnePlus phones running on Android 11.
Despite its reputation of providing updates regularly, OnePlus has disappointed its existing customers this time by not providing timely Android 11 updates for their phones that were released in previous years. OnePlus 8 series phones, including the 8T released in 2020, are running on a stable build of Android 11. But the older Oneplus phones are still on Android 10. Some Oneplus Nord devices did get the update, but it was full of bugs. So Oneplus pulled back on the update, and there are now reports suggesting that these eligible OnePlus phones will soon receive the Android 11 update.

With Android 12 coming in later this year, let’s look at all the Android 12 eligible OnePlus smartphones. OnePlus generally provides three major Android updates to their Nord and other flagship smartphones. The OnePlus Nord N series is announced to receive only one major Android update. Based on this, we have compiled the list of OnePlus phones that will get the Android 12 update.

Release Date
- OnePlus will likely release Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 in June 2021.
Android 12 will have a stable build release in the Q3 of 2021. Several OEMs will then start finalizing the beta version of their own UI skin running on Android 12. And following that, we will get a stable build. Oneplus will do that too, and when the stable build of OxygenOS 12 becomes available, they will release it first to their flagship Oneplus 9 series. After that, the rest of the lineup will receive the update by 2022.
