OnePlus 6 to Come with AI-Powered Cameras; Teaser Reveals

OnePlus will be launching its OnePlus 6 flagship in China on May 17. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer will also introduce an Avengers Infinity War Special Edition of the smartphone. The smartphone appeared a few weeks ago in TENAA, revealing its specs. Ahead of its launch, the company teased an image on the Chinese media platform Weibo revealing the AI capabilities for the front and rear cameras.

The OnePlus 6 is expected to come with a dual-camera setup on the rear with a 20 MP +16 MP configuration. Last month, the company’s CEO, Pete Lau, shared the sample pictures on Weibo. The OnePlus smartphone cameras have a good reputation in the optics department, and this time, cameras capture good detail and rich colors. The company also posted some images via its Twitter handle @Oneplus alongside the caption, “The OnePlus 6 Dual Camera takes on the iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9, and Google Pixel 2”.

According to the rumors, the primary 20 MP camera sensor will have an f/1.7 aperture with support from the 16 MP telephoto lens. The cameras will have regular features like OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), portrait mode, and slow-motion video. The image doesn’t provide any other information about the front 20 MP camera, but it confirms the May 17 launch from 10 AM.

Another report from Winfuture.de states that the OnePlus 6 flagship was found listed on Amazon Germany, but it will be launched there on May 22. It mentions the Mirror Black and Midnight Black color options but misses out on Coral blue and White, which was mentioned in previous leaks. Also, there is no mention of the Avengers Infinity War Special Edition, which will be launched on the same day as the regular variant.

As for availability, the company will launch the smartphone in India on the same day. The Winfuture.de report further revealed the 64 GB and 128 GB prices to be EUR 519 and EUR 569, respectively. It is also rumored that the 256 GB will eventually be launched in India.
