OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition Launched in India at Rs 38,999

OnePlus launched their flagship OnePlus 5T last month in India. The company has launched a Star Wars Limited Edition variant in the Indian market ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the latest installment of the movie franchise. This launch makes the variant the most expensive OnePlus smartphone in the country to date and features some customizations that distinguish it from the regular version of the smartphone.

The changes in the new variant include a white back panel with a Star Wars logo, a red Alert Slider, ten preloaded wallpapers, and other software customizations. Also, there is a bundled rugged case with the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, designed after Kylo Ren’s (Adam Driver) helmet from the movie.

OnePlus even got down to the details and explained the Sandstone White back panel of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition smartphone is inspired by the white-colored salt plains of the mineral planet Craig that will be featured in the movie. The planet’s soil’s red inspires the Alert slider’s red. The box contains the Star Wars branding and stickers, apart from the standard OnePlus ones. Additionally, we get a customized theme with a red accent and black and white colors. The special Star Wars edition will be available only in India and a few Nordic regions, which OnePlus mentions being Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.

The specs of the smartphone are akin to the higher variant of the OnePlus 5T, which sports a 6.01-inch full HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 401ppi pixel density and protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. An Octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC powers the device, clocked at up to 2.45GHz, paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

There is a dual (16 MP +20 MP ) rear camera setup and a 16 MP camera on the front. The cameras have improved portrait mode, low-light photography, and video stabilization because of f/1.7 aperture and 27.22 mm focal length, enabling better low-light photos. There are also face unlocking features. There is a fingerprint sensor on the rear. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0 with aptX and aptX HD, dual-band (2.4GHz, 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO 2×2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C (v2.0) port. Sensors on board the OnePlus 5T include an ambient light sensor,  accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor,  gyroscope, and an RGB sensor.

The new variant is Rs 38,999, making it Rs 1,000 more expensive than the regular variant. It will go on sale from midnight (12 am IST) on Friday, December 15 – the same day that Star Wars: The Last Jedi is released in the country – via Amazon India and OnePlus official website. For offline buying, it will be available via OnePlus Experience stores in Bengaluru and Noida till stocks last. The company said it would hold pop-up events in 9 cities across India.
