After the mishap with One UI 7 delays, Samsung might bounce back with One UI 8. As per new information, we’re very close to a One UI 8 Beta launch. The One UI 7 update was a major redesign, with multiple new features and animations. It also removed a lot of legacy TouchWiz code, and the software now runs a lot smoother.
One UI 8 will run on Android 16, and this latest version of Android is already out for Google Pixel phones. It brings the Material Expressive design and a couple of new features. One UI 8 won’t adopt most of the aesthetic changes; we may see the new features.
As per a reliable source of Samsung information, Tarun Vats on X, the Beta Program page is live in the Samsung Members app in many countries, like Poland, Germany, India Korea, etc. This is official information from the brand, and not a leak. However, testing is not live yet. We might get the registrations soon, and testing for One UI 8 will begin after that.
The notice on the Samsung Members app also includes the steps for testers to prepare for the Beta installation. This announcement comes just a few days after Google’s IO event. Samsung confirmed that Android 16 would be available on Galaxy phones this summer. The update might also coincide with the launch of the upcoming Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE.
Some people were already able to test the One UI 8 update. It has minor tweaks in the animations, and fixes the minor issues with the One UI 7 animations. It adds glassy blur in more areas, redesigns the share menu, and adds new features as well. Audio Brief is a new feature, which is an audio version of the Now Brief feature from One UI 7. Since this feature is exclusive to the S25 series, we can expect this feature to also remain exclusive to the latest models.
It’ll offer a personalized summary of important categories. The daily summary will include the weather and some suggested content, but now in an audio format instead of displaying the information in the form of cards in a widget. As per leaks, the One UI 8 update may bring a new weather app design as well. It will have new 3D avatars that react to weather forecasts, and there’ll be a lot more detail within the app, such as jackets, caps, and umbrellas.
If you’re a beta tester, we recommend staying active on the Samsung Members app for further updates.
