One UI 2.5 Update: Everything We Know So Far

Samsung has announced One UI 2.5 with the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series. Now, the Galaxy S20 family has started getting the new One UI 2.5 update. The South Korean giant has also shared a list of other eligible Samsung devices that will receive the One UI 2.5 update. The list includes Galaxy S10/ S10e/ S10 Lite/ S10 Plus, Galaxy S9/ S9 Plus, Galaxy Note 10/ Note 10 Plus/ Note 10 Lite, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Fold/ Fold 2.

Currently, the company has not added any of the Galaxy A or M series smartphones. It suggests that the update will take longer for Galaxy A/M lineup devices. There is also a possibility that Samsung may skip One UI 2.5 for the lower-range devices.

Samsung is all set for its biggest summer event in August 2020. They will unveil a lot of new flagship devices and a lot of accessories. According to the rumors, Samsung will launch the new Galaxy Note 20 and Fold 2 along with Galaxy Z Flip 5G, Galaxy Tab S7, and, most probably, a brand new Galaxy Watch. It is said that all of those smartphones are expected to come with the latest UI skin, which will probably be known as One UI 2.5.

What is One UI 2.5?

One UI 2.5 is Samsung’s upcoming Android-based custom skin. It is a successor update from One UI 2.1 that will power eligible Galaxy devices. Earlier, Android 10 gestures were not supported by 3rd party launchers for devices with One UI 2.0 and One UI 2.1. Later, Samsung shed light on the matter and disclosed that they would fix it, and they will add the support in the One UI 2.5.

Release Date

Update: Samsung released One UI 2.5 on August 21, 2020.

Samsung may unveil One UI 2.5 in August 2020 at its Galaxy Unpacked Online event. The One UI 2.5 update will initially roll out for Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Fold 2 devices. After that, the update will likely arrive in the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10, and Note 10 series. In the future, Samsung may push the One UI 2.5 update to more devices in the Galaxy M, Galaxy A, Galaxy S, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Z, and the Galaxy Fold series.
