Nothing Phone (1) Android 14 Update: Here’s the Latest Status

Google announced Android 14’s first developer preview on February 2023. On April 26, Tech Giant released its Beta 1.1 version to the registered beta users. The company has the authority over their devices that they have early access to the Android Beta updates. Fortunately, Nothing, a smartphone manufacturing company that introduced Nothing Phone (1), also has the privilege of the Android Beta updates, starting from Android 14.

Nothing has launched only one smartphone: the Nothing Phone (1). Since its launch, the company has been regularly updating and steadily progressing in refining its features and custom OS. The Phone (1) was launched with Android 12 based on the company’s dedicated software skin: Nothing OS. Further, the company released an Android 13 update with the latest developments and improvements to the previous software.

However, till now, only Google Pixel smartphones have the advantage of getting Android Beta updates; the Nothing joins the hand, and the Phone (1) will be eligible for the Android 14 Beta updates. The company’s founder, Carl Pei-led startup, has assured that the phone will be qualified to receive the Android 14 Beta 1 update shortly.

On April 28, Carl Pei confirmed on Twitter that the Phone (1) is ready to receive the Android 14 Beta 1 update:

We are not sure when the phone will be receiving the update. However, the Google Pixel series of eligible devices has already started receiving the Android Beta updates. The Phone (1) will likely be the first non-Google smartphone to receive Beta updates before any other Android OEMs.

For now, the smartphone runs on Android 13-based Nothing OS. The company has ensured that the software experience is clean, like a stock Android with a few customization options. Furthermore, the company has added new features like dot-matrix design, new ringtones, and notification sounds that seamlessly work with the Glyph interface on the back.

The Nothing Phone (1) runs on Android 13-based Nothing OS, exclusively designed by the company. It brings all the necessary features that the Android 13 is expected to bring along with the customization options. Additionally, the software will improve graphics capabilities, personalization changes, specifically in the language department, and privacy and stability improvements.
