HMD Global which manufactures Nokia’s smartphones has announced its latest smartphone in China. Dubbed as Nokia 7, it’s the first Android device from the company to feature a glass back along with an aluminium frame. It has a 5.2-inch 1080p screen with a 2.5 curved display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
HMD Global teased a phone two days ago with a Bothie feature to be launched on October 19. So when HMD Global invited for its press event, many people expected to hear about the long-awaited Nokia 7. And today they finally announced the latest member of its Nokia Android series- the Nokia 7. The Nokia 7 will be the first smartphone to feature a glass body in two colours: Gloss Black and Matt White. The device doesn’t seem to follow any bezel trend of 2017 as there are thick bezels on the top and bottom. The device will go for all virtual buttons and will have the fingerprint sensor on the back.
Under the hood, the Nokia 7 will feature an Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with an Adreno 508 GPU. It will be supported a 4 GB or 6 GB of LPPDDR4 RAM along with 64 GB internal memory which is expandable up to 128 GB with micro SD. It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but it is most likely upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo. The device is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. The device will also not follow the trend of ditching the good old 3.5 mm headphone jack. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, GPS and NFC.
In the optics department, the Nokia 7 sports a 16-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture along with a dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it sports a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture with 84-degree field-of-view for video calling and shooting selfies. Inspired the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 features the “Dual Sight Technology” which allows the user to take pictures and videos using the front and back camera simultaneous or should I say “Bothies” as Nokia prefers to say. Nokia 7 also uses the Carl Zeiss optics, as well as built-in OZO technology to provide 360-degree crystal clear sound.
As stated earlier The Nokia 7 will come in two colours and will be available in China from October 24. The pricing is CNY 2,499 (Rs 24,600 approx) for the regular version which have 4 GB of RAM and CNY 2,699 ( Rs 26,500 approx ) for the 6 GB variant which will put up against the Moto X4 which will arrive in India on November 13. HMD Global has released the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 in February this year and in August, it released its flagship smartphone Nokia 8 at a price of Rs 36,999 in India. They are also reportedly working on two new smartphones: Nokia 2 and the Nokia 9 which are rumoured to launch at MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
