But as it knows, Google will always make its new OS available to one of its own first. It will take a few months for other devices to get the new Android 11. Nokia, too, has the policy of giving two major OS upgrades per Android One device along with three years of monthly security patches. The Nokia 6.1 and 6.1 Plus was launched with Android 8 Oreo. Since Nokia allowed two major OS upgrades after the launch of Android 9 and Android 10, both devices grabbed the two OS upgrades, exhausting their two slots. So, they can’t receive any more major OS upgrades. But Nokia has a good habit of releasing monthly security patches for three years per device. However, since the device was launched in 2018, 2020 is the last year for Nokia to deliver monthly security patches to both devices.

Unofficial Android 11 for Nokia 6.1 Series

There may be an alternative way for you to install Android 11. You must wait for standalone OEMs like LineageOS to launch a customized unofficial Android 11 using source codes for the Nokia 6.1 series. But don’t keep your hopes high.

LineageOS is now readying Android 11-based Custom ROM called LineageOS 18. However, it will be interesting to see whether they include Nokia 6.1 and 6.1 Plus in their eligible Android 11 device list.
