HMD Global who manufactures Nokia branded smartphones is trying to cover every segment of the market. After unveiling Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 smartphones this year the company recently launched the Nokia 7. It seems the company is gearing up for a new entry-level smartphone- the Nokia 2.
Just had another look at the FCC docs for the supposed "Nokia 2" from HMD Global (TA-1029 in this case) – they list a 4000mAh (!!!) battery.

Well, known leaker, Roland Quandt has tweeted that the device will be powered by a powerful 4,000 mAh battery that would make it the biggest battery sported by a Nokia Android device made by HMD so far. Even the Nokia 8 features a 3,090 mAh battery. The device was spotted in a US FCC listing having the model number- TA-1035. The listings also confirmed the device would support dual SIM.
According to the listings on the Geekbench site, the Nokia 2 will come with a 5 inch HD (1280 × 720) IPS LCD and will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor clocked at 1.27GHz. The RAM is reported to be 1 GB and expected to run Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It probably will have 8 GB of internal memory and may have an 8 MP camera on the rear and 5 MP camera on the front.
Previous FCC leak hinted that there would be four variants of the website namely TA-1023, TA-1035, TA-1007 and TA-1029. The TA-1023 and TA-1007 featured single SIM connectivity while the TA-1035 and TA-1029 are dual SIM supported. A new report also revealed that the Nokia 2 variant TA-1035 and TA-1023 features LTE band 5. The leaked photos show that the Nokia 2 is almost similar to the Nokia 3 in terms of look and built. The Nokia 3 was launched in June this year and priced at Rs 9,199.
The Nokia 2 is already listed on a US e-commerce site at a price of $99 which will be approx Rs 6435 in Indian currency. This news was reported by Winfuture.de. According to him, the Nokia 2 will come in black and white colour variants. At this price, the device will face stiff competition from the Xiaomi Redmi devices which feature almost similar battery but with a higher processor. As now there are no more reports on the Nokia 2. We have to wait till the device is released to know the full specifications.
Meanwhile, HMD Global is reported to be working on a flagship smartphone with 18:9 display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, and Zeiss powered dual camera setup on front and back which will be known as Nokia 9. The device will be announced in the first quarter of 2018.
