Nokia 2.2 Android One Phone Goes Official with Helio A22 SoC, Face Unlock

Nokia appeared in New Delhi on Thursday by launching a new cheap Android One device. The device is named the Nokia 2.2 and comes with a meager introductory price of Rs 6,999. India was, however, not the only country where HMD Global decided to launch this device; it was launched in Italy, too.

Two variants will be available for purchase for the Nokia 2.2. The base model comes with a 2GB/16GB configuration priced at Rs 6,999, while the higher 3GB/32GB option has a price tag of Rs 7,999. As mentioned above, this is just an introductory price and will stay that way till the 30th of June. After that, we will see a price rise for both models, with the 2GB/16GB priced at Rs 7,699 and the 3GB/32GB priced at Rs 8,699. Pre-booking is available for the device starting from the 6th of June on Flipkart and Nokia’s official website.

There is also a Jio cashback offer of Rs 2,200, along with 100GB of high-speed data. This offer is only valid for recharges worth Rs 198 and Rs 299, and the cashback will be available in the form of 44 vouchers worth Rs 50 each.

The phone has a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch on top housing the front camera. Since it is a cheaper offering from Nokia, we get a moderate MediaTek Helio A22 processor with four A53 cores clocked at 2 GHz each, which should be enough to get the daily tasks done without issues. We get 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB and 32GB of internal storage, respectively. There is no dual or triple camera setup here, as we see only a single 13MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front.

We also get a moderate 3000mAh battery here, but considering the processor and display size, it should be enough to last a day. As far as software is concerned, the phone comes with the Android One program, so we get the latest Android P on board with promise for the Android Q shortly. As an additional feature, we also see a dedicated hardware button for the Google Assistant.

This phone will be an excellent option for people looking for a decent phone from a reliable brand like Nokia. It comes with a cheaper price tag than the other Nokia phones.
