New Variant of Samsung Galaxy J2 (SM-J250G) Leaked with Specifications

Samsung made huge profits with its entry-level J series, and we saw the launch of the 2017 edition of Galaxy J2 earlier this week. A new variant of the 2017 Galaxy J2 has surfaced online, revealing its specs.

The new J2 device was spotted on GFXBench and Geekbench with model no SM-J250G, meaning it’s a variant of the Galaxy J2. The listing revealed the device would be powered by a Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz(based on Cortex-A53) and an Adreno 308 GPU. The display is revealed to be a 5-inch with a screen resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The screen is decent, considering it will be better than a WVGA one. In the memory department, we are getting 1.3 GB of RAM(yes, you read that right) and internal memory of 16GB, of which we will be getting only 11 GB. The memory is expandable by micro SD. The RAM is probably 1.5GB unless Samsung has a trick.

The back of the device features an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, with features like face detection and HDR. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. Both the cameras can record and shoot 1080p videos. This Galaxy J2 variant will run on Android Nougat 7.1.1. Though there is no word on the battery backup, we expect the same 2000 mAh battery on the 2017 Galaxy J2. Connectivity options include Bluetooth WiFi and sensors like GPS proximity sensor, accelerometer, and altimeter.

To give a flashback, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) comes with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of qHD (540 x 960 pixels). A 1.3 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and 1 GB of RAM run it. It includes 8GB of internal memory (4.3 GB is user accessible), further expanding to 128 GB via a micro SD card. The device has a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. It is priced at Rs 7,390, a tad costly considering its completion of smartphone companies like Xiaomi.

Compared with this, the new variants look like an upgrade with little price difference.
