Motorola is working on two new budget 4G phones for 2021. A few days ago, an unknown Motorola device with model XT2127-1/XT2127-2 was spotted (via GSMArena) on the FCC certification website, revealing some of its key details. Today, its Plus version has also appeared on the FCC website with model XT2129-2.
In a separate document, we see that XT2127-1 will be called “Motorola Capri 21,” whereas XT2129-2 will be known as “Motorola Capri Plus 21”. These could also be codenames, but the document (that we use to identify the actual device name) usually has the right information.
Regarding specifications, GSMArena reported that Motorola XT2127-1/XT2127-2 (Motorola Capri 21) will have a 5,000 mAh battery with 10W fast charging support. Other features include an HD+ panel with a waterdrop notch, a Quad rear camera setup, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC. The RAM and storage will be 4GB and 64GB, respectively.
Motorola XT2129-2 (Motorola Capri Plus 21) Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing confirms the presence of the JK50 battery and MC-201/ MC-202/ MC-203/ MC-204/ MC-205 adapter (the last digit represents different regions). Separately, TUV Rheinland Japan certification of the battery and adapter reveals Motorola Capri Plus 21 will pack a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging.
Recently, Tipster Abhishek Yadav has also spotted Capri Plus 21 (XT2129-3) on the Geekbench v5 benchmarking platform. It reveals that the Capri Plus 21 will be powered by a Snapdragon 662 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. Also, it will run on the latest Android 11 operating system.
At present, this is all the information we know so far about the upcoming Motorola Capri series. Since the certification process has started, we believe both devices will launch in Q1 2021.
