Moto G6/G6 Play Launching in India Soon; Company Teases

Motorola launched the Moto G6 and the Moto G6 Play in Brazil in April. The Lenovo-owned company has announced that it will launch the two smartphones in India. Motorola put a teaser on their official Twitter handle and said the smartphones are “coming soon.” As history suggests, Motorola is quick to launch smartphones globally in India. The predecessor, Moto G5, was launched just weeks after announcing at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona.

The teaser came as a 14-second video calling out gaming pros, techies, movie buffs, photographers, explorers, and fashionistas from India. Motorola also created a dedicated site for customers to register themselves for notifications related to the launch. Interestingly, the company will launch both smartphones in China today, so we can expect the India launch a few weeks away.

The Moto G6  features a 5.9 inch Max Vision IPS display with a resolution of FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be powered by the 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 460 coupled with 3GB and  4GB RAM and 32GB and 64GB internal storage options with expandable options with a microSD card up to 128GB. A dual camera setup will be at the back of the (12MP + 5MP) configuration. The front offers a 16 MP camera for selfies and video calling. It is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery with TurboPower charging via a proprietary charger and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

As for the Moto G6 Play, it is a 5.7-inch Max Vision IPS display with a resolution of FHD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It will be powered by the Octa-core Snapdragon 427 coupled with 2GB and 3GB RAM options and 16GB and 32GB internal storage options with expandable options with a microSD card up to 128GB. There is a single 13MP camera sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and an 8 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture with an 80-degree lens on the front. It is backed by a 4,000 mAh battery and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Both smartphones support dual SIM and carry a 3.5 mm headphone jack. There is also a fingerprint sensor at the front. As for the pricing, the Moto G6 came with a price tag of $249, while the Moto G6 was priced around $199 in Brazil. It will compete against mid-rangers like the Honor 7X and Redmi Note 5 Pro at this price.
