Moto G 5G Plus may arrive as Motorola Edge Lite or One 5G outside Europe

Last month, Motorola launched an affordable 5G-enabled smartphone in Europe dubbed Moto G 5G Plus. Now, it seems the device will arrive in other markets but with a different marketing name.

On August 13, a new Motorola device bearing model XT2075-2 received certification from the FCC with ID IHDT56ZC2. The FCC documents reveal the device will come with 5G support. The FCC listing mentions the battery model as LZ50 and the adapter model as MC-201. These model numbers are the same as the Moto G 5G Plus’s battery and adapter model. The LZ50 battery has a 5000 mAh capacity, and the MC-201 adapter has a 20W charging output. Furthermore, Moto G 5G Plus carries the XT2075-3 model number for Europe. So, the upcoming Motorola device and the newly announced Moto G 5G Plus share the same model number except for the last digit.

Separately, from a document, we can confirm that XT2075-2 will be called Motorola Edge Lite. The listing also mentions the FCC ID as IHDT56ZC2. So, we can conclude that Motorola Edge Lite could be rebadged Moto G 5G Plus for other markets.

Yesterday, Evan Blass tweeted that Motorola One 5G is coming to AT&T in the US. However, he did not mention the model number.

Tipster Sudhanshu tweeted that Motorola One 5G with model number XT2075-2 is in the works. This leads us to believe Moto G 5G Plus will likely arrive in the US as Motorola One 5G.

So, Moto G 5G Plus (Europe) = Motorola One 5G (US) = Motorola Edge Lite (Outside Europe/US)? Motorola has a history of using confusing names and model numbers for their smartphones. Only time will tell which marketing name will be adopted by Motorola.

Talking about the specifications of Moto G 5G Plus, it sports a 6.7-inch CinemaVision 90Hz Full HD+ display with HDR10 and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The phone packs a dual punch-hole selfie camera system with an 8MP ultra-wide and 16MP main camera. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 7nm EUV Mobile Platform with X52 5G modem. We see a quad rear camera array at the back that packs a 48MP main sensor with Quad Pixel technology. The MotoG 5G Plus arrives in a Surfing Blue color option and is priced at €349 for the 4GB+64GB variant.
