MediaTek just announced the new mid-range 5G chipset for 2022, the Dimensity 930 5G, alongside the Dimensity 1050 5G and the MediaTek Helio G99 4G. The new Dimensity mid-range chipset is based on TSMC’s 6nm node. This is a successor to the existing Dimensity 920 5G, which we have seen in several mid-range phones till now. Let’s look at the specifications and phones of this new chipset.
MediaTek Dimensity 930 5G Specifications and Features
The MediaTek Dimensity 930 5G is a healthy upgrade over the Dimensity 920 5G, which we have seen in the Realme 9 Pro+ 5G, Vivo V23, Xiaomi 11i, and 11i HC, etc.
The MediaTek Dimensity 930 features two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.2GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz and the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. It supports LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 memory and UFS 2.1, UFS 2.2, and UFS 3.1 storage type. This is said to provide efficient and powerful performance.
The Dimensity 930 5G supports displays with a resolution of up to 2520 × 1080 (Full HD+) with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a maximum screen refresh rate of 120Hz. It also supports an HDR10+ display. As for the camera, it supports cameras up to 108MP. The chipset can record video at a maximum resolution of 4K at 30FPS.
Equipped with the MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 Lite, the chipset will provide a smooth gaming experience without jitters or lags while maximizing battery life. Furthermore, the chipset has an improved photo and video processing engine for capturing captivating night shots. This means less noise and brighter images during nighttime. It is also equipped with the MediaTek MiraVision Smart Contrast and Local Tone Mapping (SCLTM) engine to enhance video streaming in real time.
MediaTek Dimensity 930 5G Phones
There is no official information from any brand regarding releasing a phone with the Dimensity 930 5G. But we can expect phones powered by the chipset from several brands like realme, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, and others by July 2022. We will, most likely, see Dimensity 930 5G phones launch in China first and then in other markets.
