Does MediaTek Dimensity 9000 have heating issues?

MediaTek had recently launched its flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. The Dimensity 9000 chipset can go toe to toe with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Both the chipsets are based on 4nm FINFET technology; while MediaTek is manufactured using TSMC’s node, Qualcomm is manufactured using Samsung’s node. The first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 had major heating issues, and Cortex X2 can be a reason behind it.

It is also worth noting that MediaTek employs an ARM Cortex X2 primary core. So, the question is whether the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 will have heating issues or not. We don’t yet have a device with the following chipset to test it out, but the company has issued an official statement regarding heating issues on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset. Let’s take a closer look.

MediaTek Claims that Dimensity 9000 chipset will not overheat

Speaking to Android Authority, Finbarr Moynihan, MediaTek’s vice president and general manager of marketing, stated, “We are very confident and obviously testing this chipset for our customers, and the feedback we are getting is very promising. Qualcomm’s solutions have been disappointing.”

Furthermore, MediaTek’s official spokesperson claims, “When comparing devices with what we believe our competitor will have, we believe that next year we will have a power advantage for flagships.” “Now only one company has problems with overheating, and this is not MediaTek,” according to MediaTek’s public relations director.

So, yeah, they’ve mocked the Snapdragon on their heating issues with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and claims that the Dimensity 9000 won’t overheat.

MediaTek also shares a thermal image of the Dimensity 9000 chipset against its competitor’s 2021 flagship chipset. Its rival displayed signs of overheating (above 40 degrees Celsius), while the Dimensity 9000-powered device remained cool (below 40 degrees Celsius).

However, these are only the company’s comments, and we can’t really rely on them because none of the companies will highlight the disadvantages of their product. We should wait for smartphone OEMs to release smartphones equipped with the Dimensity 9000 chipset before determining whether or not it has heating issues, so that brings us to the end of this post.
