MediaTek Dimensity 1050 5G Phones and Specifications

MediaTek just announced the new mid-range 5G chipset for 2022, the Dimensity 1050 5G, alongside the Dimensity 930 5G and the MediaTek Helio G99 4G. This new Dimensity upper mid-range chipset is based on TSMC’s 6nm node. This new SoC has a similar configuration to the existing Dimensity 1100 5G. Let’s look at the specifications and phones of this new chipset.

MediaTek Dimensity 1050 5G Specifications

The MediaTek Dimensity 1050 5G has a similar configuration to the Dimensity 1100 5G and 8100 5G SoCs. It will compete with its rival, Snapdragon 778G/778G+ from Qualcomm. It aims at providing better performance and efficiency than the Snapdragon 778G/778G+.

The Dimensity 1050 5G features four ARM Cortex A78 high-performance cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The CPU is comparatively slower than the Dimensity 1100 5G and the flagship Dimensity 8100 5G.

While the CPU isn’t anything worth concerning, the GPU is the same flagship Mali-G610 GPU from the Dimensity 8100 5G. It is more powerful than the Mali G77-MC9 on the Dimensity 1100 5G. The Dimensity 1050 provides excellent gaming performance and efficiency with smooth fps and zero lags. The SoC supports LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 memory types and can be coupled with UFS 2.1 and UFS 3.1 storage types.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1050 supports displays with a maximum resolution of 2520 x 1080 (Full HD+) with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. As for the camera ISP, it supports 108MP cameras and 20MP + 20MP cameras. The SoC can record videos with a full resolution of 4K at 30FPS. Some camera features are Dual HDR video capture hardware, 3X HDR-ISP, Hardware Depth Engine and Warping Engine.

As for connectivity, the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 5G supports dual-mode 5G with mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G support. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E (a/b/g/n/ac/ax), Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port.

There is no official information from any brand regarding releasing a phone with the Dimensity 1050 5G. But we can expect mid-range phones powered by the chipset from several brands like realme, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, and others by July 2022. We will see Dimensity 1050 5G phones launch in Chinese markets first and then in global markets.
