LG V30s with LG Lens to be Unveiled at MWC 2018

LG launched the LG V30 in August in China, while it was launched in India in December. Though the smartphone wasn’t a major success and struggled to make a profit, the company has plans to turn this around by using the releasing new variants strategy. The company plans to launch a smartphone variant called LG V30s, featuring a Bixby-like AI feature dubbed the “LG Lens.”

The report was first made by ETNews, which describes the LG Lens as similar to Google Lens. The company aims to incorporate Artificial Intelligence technology in the phone’s camera. This includes recognizing objects in images, translating languages, surfacing relevant products, giving AR guides based on GPS locations, reading barcodes and QR codes, and more.

According to the report, the new variant will feature a similar design to the LG V30 and offer 256 GB of internal storage. A previous report mentioned that a new variant of the LG V30 called the V30+’a’ or V30 alpha will launch with Google Assistant-based AI support. It’s not sure whether it is the same device, but we expect the South Korean smartphone manufacturer to give an official word soon.

LG is known for launching variants to spice up the same smartphone. It previously launched another LG V30 variant called LG V30 Signature Edition before the holiday season in Korea at a price tag of $1800(Rs 1,17,000 approx). Also, at CES 2018, it unveiled a Raspberry Rose variant of the LG V30. So, it is very likely that the new LG V30s will be showcased at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018, to be held this month in Barcelona, Spain.
