LG V30+ Launched in India with 6″ OLED Display and Dual Rear Cameras

LG today launched their latest flagship, the LG V30+, in India at a New Delhi event. The device is almost similar to the LG V30, with some memory upgrades. Both these smartphones were unveiled at IFA 2017 in August this year. The LG V30+ comes with IP68  level dust and water resistance and is also MIL-STD-810G certified, which means it can technically survive the harsh environment. Not only does it have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, but it includes facial and voice recognition technology for added security. The device will be available in four colors.

The device has slim bezels and a large display covering over 80 % of the front side and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The LG V30+ sports a 6-inch OLED FullVision display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and quad HD+ resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. The display is bright and vibrant, with a pixel density of 538 PPI and HDR10 support. The smartphone is also compatible with Google’s Daydream virtual reality platform. The V30+ features a Floating Bar, unlike the secondary display of the previous V series smartphone from LG; the Floating bar displays shortcuts and can be disabled when not required. There is an always-on display feature with a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for immersive audio. Additionally, it supports Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology for high-resolution audio streaming.

The smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 2 TB using a micro SD card. The device runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat with LG’s UX 6.0+ skin on top and is backed by a 3,300mAh battery. It has both fast and wireless charging features. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and Wi-Fi. The smartphone measures 151.70 x 75.40 x 7.30 mm and weighs 158 grams.

In the optics department, the device sports a dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 16 MP sensor with f/1.6 aperture and a 71-degree wide-angle lens + a 13 MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone has been touted as the world’s first camera system to ship with an aperture of f/1.6, which helps in low-light photography. Additionally, the dual camera system onboard the V30+ uses a crystal clear glass lens instead of plastic, which LG says will aid in better photos. The device can also shoot 4K videos at 30fps in log format and has as many as 15 color grading presets to add a cinematic look to videos. A new feature called Point Zoom allows zooming into any selected area within the frame while recording. On the front, the LG V30+ offers a 5 MP wide-angle (90-degree lens) camera for selfies and video calling.

The LG V30+ has a price tag of Rs. 44,990, competing against Apple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, and OnePlus 5T. With no chance of the LG V30 launching in India, customers will have no option to buy a cheaper variant. The device is available for pre-order now and will go on sale from Dec 18 exclusively from Amazon India. There are no launch offers, but LG will offer a one-time screen replacement, a wireless charger, and in-app content (worth Rs 6,400) for free with the V30+.
