JioBook Android 4G Laptop Launching Soon: Specs, Price, Launch Date

JioBook Android laptop will pack Snapdragon 665

There was news suggesting that Jio was working on a cheap new Android laptop, and now we have reports backing that claim. Back in 2018, Miguel Nunes, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm announced that Qualcomm and Reliance are working closely to launch a new affordable Android laptop with cellular connectivity. Now we finally have reports on it that reveal a lot about the design and hardware behind this upcoming laptop from Jio.

JioBook 4G Laptop

Jio was successful with the launch of Jio Phone, which was a feature phone capable of 4G connectivity. This allowed a lot of users to enjoy high-speed internet without having to spend money on a smartphone. Now Jio is planning to repeat the feat in the field of laptops by launching the JioBook. The prototype model of the JioBook (spotted by XDA Developers) is observed to be running on some version of AndroidOS, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 powering it up. This is a 4G only processor that was launched back in 2019.

Jio is working together with the China-based Bluebank Communication Technology, which is an engineering firm that works with other companies to develop mobile phones, other similar devices, and software. They will also look after the Engineering of the upcoming JioBook. Right now it is far from a finished product and we will see this laptop probably in the Q3 or Q4 of 2021. But some images in its test phase have leaked online. Those images do not reveal the real product though. But we can expect the final product to look somewhat like the images suggest.

So far in the testing phase, we have news that the device will have a resolution of 1366 x 768 but the screen size is not yet known. Additionally, test devices with two storage and RAM options were listed. One with 2GB LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB eMMC storage and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage. In terms of other hardware specifications, Samsung will be the supplier for the DRAM and NAND chip while Qualcomm will be the supplier for the processor and audio chip.
