iPhone SE 4 to sport 48MP rear and 12MP front cameras, supplied by LG Innotek

Apple is said to upgrade the camera of the next-gen iPhone SE next year. The iPhone SE 4 will likely have a single 48MP rear camera and a 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front.

That’s a big jump from the previous model, and the cameras are going to be from LG Innotek.

LG Innotek confirmed as the main supplier

According to an ET News report, the iPhone SE 4 will sport a 48MP rear camera module and a 12MP front camera module. The cameras will be mainly supplied by LG Innotek, which has started mass production at its plant in Vietnam.

For the first time, LG Innotek will be supplying both front and rear camera modules for the iPhone SE series. Aside from LG Innotek, Foxconn and Cowell Electronics also manufacture components for the camera modules.

The report says Apple is most likely to continue with the components available in the market rather than new ones to make the iPhone SE 4 at reasonable prices.

It uses a camera system similar to the higher-end model found in the Apple iPhone 16, featuring a “Fusion” lens to help facilitate standard and 2x zoom photos. Still, the SE 4 cuts corners to keep costs down, which means that it’ll lack the Ultra Wide camera.

Apple is making the new iPhone SE 4 a more competitive device in the mid-range segment by incorporating modern cameras and features. According to a previous report, other features of the SE 4 will include an edge-to-edge OLED display with no Home Button, Apple Intelligence, Face ID, and the A18 chip, which is the same processor used on the flagship iPhone 16 models.

The iPhone SE 4 will also include an Apple-designed 5G modem, an upgrade from third-party modems in past versions. The addition of a USB-C charging port and 8GB of RAM makes it all the more attractive.

By bringing new features into the series, Apple decides not to compromise on quality while serving budget-friendly users. It can include flagship-level performance starting at around $400 to $500 for the SE 4.

The iPhone SE 4 is slated to arrive this spring, sometime in March 2025.
