iPhone 17 Pro camera specs leaked: What upgrades are coming?

Last year, Apple brought significant camera upgrades to the iPhone 16 Pro series. This time around, with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro series, the Cupertino giant could bring even more exciting upgrades to its camera department.

As usual, the iPhone 17 series could launch later this year, possibly in September 2025. However, the rumor mill has already started sharing new information about these devices. Now let’s talk about the iPhone 17 Pro series camera specs leak in detail.

The iPhone 17 Pro lineup may pack an impressive selfie camera

If the latest rumors are to be believed, the iPhone 17 Pro models will likely come with a 24MP front camera. That’s double the 12MP camera if we compare it with the current iPhone 16 Pro. So, we can expect the new selfie camera will offer even more detailed photos.

The iPhone 17 Pro lineup may pack three rear cameras

Speaking of its rear cameras, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will likely feature three cameras. The main camera unit will probably have a 48MP sensor with a 1/1.3-inch size. The size could be smaller than the one packed with the iPhone 16 Pro. The ultra-wide camera unit could also feature a 48MP sensor, which is ideal for capturing landscapes or group shots.

On top of that, there is also a telephoto camera unit that could feature a 48MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This can be considered as one of the big upgrades if we compare it with the iPhone 16 Pro’s 12MP telephoto camera. The 5x optical zoom comes in handy when you need to get close to faraway objects without losing quality.

As far as the camera placement is concerned, the leak says this time rear cameras might be arranged horizontally. It’s still not confirmed, as Apple has reportedly yet to finalize the design. You can see the iPhone 17 Pro concept render below.

It is noteworthy that these leaked camera details come from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and a well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS). So, the chances are that the leak turns out to be true, yet you should take this information with a grain of salt, no matter how credible the source is.
