Since the iPhone 12 series, we have had 4 iPhones launched each year. The iPhone 12 series came with the new “mini” variant that was positioned as one variant below the standard iPhone 12.
This continued with the iPhone 13 series, but that was the last. Since the iPhone 14 series, the “mini” was replaced with the “plus.” This model sat one variant above the standard iPhone 14. The “plus” model has been in use ever since, with the latest being the iPhone 16 Plus.
However, it looks like the iPhone 16 Plus is going to be the last of its kind. With the iPhone 17 series, the “plus” is said to be replaced with “Slim” or “Air”. The iPhone 17 Slim / Air has been in the talks for quite a while now. It was first rumored sometime early this year, and its leaks are slowly but surely increasing.
iPhone 17 Air specs resurfaced
Recently, the specifications of the iPhone 17 Slim / Air have been reiterated alongside those of other iPhone 17 models. Haitong International’s Jeff Pu, a reliable Apple tipster, has come back with a new research note.
Pu says the Apple A19 chip has been confirmed for the iPhone 17 Air (with the A19 Pro being kept only for the Pro lineup, just like with the iPhone 16 series). Additionally, it’s going to be paired with 8GB of RAM, so unsurprisingly, Apple intelligence is also supported.
However, the major change seems to be in the design and camera. According to Pu, the iPhone 17 Air will come with a single 48MP camera at the rear.
For context, every non-pro iPhone since the iPhone 11 from 2019 (except the iPhone SE lineup) comes with a secondary ultrawide camera at the rear. For the design, there isn’t much information, but it is said to have an all-new design.
Other than these, the rest of the iPhone 17 Slim / Air hardware specifications are standard Apple-like. It’s a 24MP selfie camera, an aluminum frame, and a 6.6-inch screen.
iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max specs resurfaced
Pu also talked about the specs of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to him, both of these phones will be the same size as their predecessors.
They will have the Apple A19 Pro chip and the RAM bumped to 12GB from the 8GB of their predecessors. For the cameras, the Pro and Pro Max will have a 48MP telephoto camera and a 24MP selfie camera.
However, the selfie camera will be around a dynamic island that is going to take up less space. This is due to the company using a new FaceID system.
