With the iOS 18 update, Apple made a couple of changes to the iPhone’s camera app, including some new settings and the ability to record video and play music simultaneously. Now it seems the Cupertino giant will bring a major overhaul to the iPhone’s camera app in the next-generation version of iOS, presumably iOS 19.
In his latest video, Jon Prosser reveals that iOS 19’s camera app will feature a design inspired by visionOS. Notably, we heard a similar rumor last year that iOS 18 would adopt a new design inspired by visionOS. That said, in reality, it did not happen. And finally, with iOS 19 we may see a system-wide redesign inspired by visionOS.
Prosser has not shared the actual video of iOS 19’s camera app to protect his source. Instead, he has recreated a video from scratch to show us the major changes within the app. We can see the camera app does not have many distractions around the viewfinder.
It includes two toggles for Photo and Video at the bottom of the interface. In addition to that, each menu allows you to switch between different modes such as depth, spatial, aspect ratio, timer, and exposure.
Some options like Flash, Live Photos, and controls for resolution/ frame rate appear at the top of the interface. A dedicated button lets you quickly open the photos library.
It is noteworthy that based on iOS’s next-generation version release history, the iOS 19 is still nine months away from becoming available for the public. So probably it’s not finalized yet, and during this period, Apple might change iOS 19’s design either completely or partially, so take this information with a grain of salt for now.
