Previously reliable tipster Evan Blass on his twitter handle @evleaks earlier claimed that Chinese smartphone manufacturer HTC will be launching another smartphone dubbed as the HTC Desire 12. Today the news is confirmed as an image of a retail box of the smartphone with specs was leaked online giving the first look at the upcoming smartphone.
According to the retail box, the HTC Desire 12 will feature a 5.5 inch with an 18:9 aspect ratio and an HD+(1440 x 720 pixels) resolution. It will be powered by a 64-bit Quad-Core MediaTek chipset coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal space with expandable option up to 2 TB with a micro SD card. It offers a 12 MP camera at the rear that can shoot 1080p videos while the front offers a 5 MP camera for selfies and video calling. It is backed by a 2730 mAh battery and has support for Dual SIM (2 nano + micro SD), Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, and Bluetooth.
The news is first reported by Android Authority who also obtained the image. The image, however, fails to mention the operating system, pricing, launch date and details about the look and design of the smartphone. The new retail box leak suggests the launch is at the door. So a photo leak/ render or appearance at benchmarking website shouldn’t be surprising. There is a great chance of HTC unveiling the smartphone at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 to be held in Barcelona, Spain at the end of this month. The company has been struggling lately, and with this new launch, it’s expecting to turn the tables around.
