Huawei Mate 10 Pro: Is the New Huawei Leak the Future of Smartphones?

With less than two weeks left from revealing the new Mate 10 series, Chinese handset manufacturer Huawei is again in the news for its latest leak, putting it in direct competition with Apple’s iPhone series. Evan Blass on Twitter has shared two images of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, showing its dual-camera setup and fingerprint sensor like the previous Mate phones.

The bezel looks much smaller than the Mate 10 and the recently leaked Mate 10 Lite. It will come in three dark colors (dark blue, black, and brown). Also, the band covering the back looks different and light-coloured. On the left, the Leica branded flash is visible. It will have a 5.99-inch edge-to-edge display of QHD (1440×2880) with an 18.9 aspect ratio.

Another report suggests a 4000 mAh battery and the company’s new AI-focused HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor. We know that the Kirin 970 chipset houses an octa-core processor with a quad-core Cortex A73 cluster and another quad-core Cortex A53 cluster having maximum clock speeds of 2.8 GHz along with a Mali G72 MP8 GPU on the graphics department.

It will be available in four configurations: 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage, 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage, 6GB RAM/ 256GB storage, and 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage. Another (reliable) leaker, Roland Quandt, has separately claimed that Huawei Mate 10 Pro has been spotted in Eastern European retailers with alleged pricing of EUR 930-940 ( 70000 INR). This puts them in direct competition with high-end phones like Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and ASUS ZenFone AR, most notably with the Apple iPhone X with the A11 Bionic chip. Why? I will tell you in a while.

Apple launch iPhone-X

Apple’s research team has constantly been innovating its AI department. Its new iPhone is billed as the “Future of the Smartphone” with its new facial recognition and augmented reality. Its latest weapon is the A11 Bionic chip consisting of a neural engine. According to Apple’s press materials, the neural engine performs “up to 600 billion operations per second” to help speed AI tasks.

Similarly, Huawei also put a similar “Neural Processing Unit” in its Kirin 970 system-on-chip, saying it can handle tasks like image recognition 20 times faster than a regular CPU. Shortly after Apple released its new iPhone lineup, Huawei also announced to unveil ‘The Real AI Phone‘ in the form of its Mate 10 lineup later this month.

Now, all will be revealed on October 16, which may decide the face of the next generation of smartphones. Fingers crossed.
