Last month, on a 5G event in Taiwan, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei displayed a prototype of the upcoming HTC U12, the successor of the HTC U11 and HTC U11 Plus launch in November last year. Now a new report from HTC Source claims that according to a trusted source, the HTC U12 will be carrying design elements from the HTC U11 and HTC U11 Plus, two pieces of glass with a metal frame sandwiched between.
The U12 is likely to have a dual camera set up at the rear along with a fingerprint sensor, like the U11 Plus. It may also carry a dual camera set up at the front of the HTC U11 EYEs. HTC also may go into a completely different direction with dual cameras instead of following OEMs. The company was the first to launch dual camera smartphones and promote it (HTC EVO 3D and HTC One M8).
The HTC U12 hardware design is likely to get an upgrade from the HTC U11’s liquid glass design. Though the details about it are scarce, rumours say that the smartphone will have a new matte white finish. The HTC outdid themselves on the Liquid Glass design on the U11 and made it quite distinguishable from others. The company will be looking for a new innovative glass coating for the smartphone. The ideal candidate will be ceramic, but it’s not easy to manufacture it on a massive scale.
