Honor 9 Lite to Get Face Unlock Feature

2017 was all about bezel-less design smartphones and dual cameras. But it seems this year, we will see the evolution of facial recognition technology. Last year, the top pioneer was Apple’s Face ID tech, which uses its specific hardware that emits infrared rays in the face to recognize facial patterns. After that, OPPO and even OnePlus went on to introduce facial recognition tech in their smartphones but without special hardware for it.

Huawei has already integrated facial recognition technology in their Mate 10 series, but the exciting news is their sub-brand Honor will be integrating the tech in two of their smartphones. The first smartphone to receive this is the Honor 9 Youth Edition, also known as Honor 9 Lite, launched last year. Today, Honor announced that the smartphone would get this biometric feature with the new upgrade. The Honor 9 Youth already incorporates a rear-incorporated fingerprint sensor, and with this new feature, users can unlock their smartphones without using it.

The second smartphone from Honor receiving cutting-edge tech is the Honor View 10. The smartphone has already received the update that gives the face unlocking feature. The device also gets an Intelligent Screen feature that detects when the user’s eyes are looking at the display and doesn’t turn off the display. The people of XDA have released a new video demonstrating the feature, and it works pretty well.

As for the mid-range Honor 7X, the device is also speculated to get the face unlocking feature. This news comes from the Red Honor 7X variant at CES 2018. In this segment, Honor &x already tops the list with its 18:9 display and dual cameras, and this new feature will be the icing on the cake. The  Honor View 10 and the Honor 9 Youth Edition also have aggressive pricing of Rs 29,000 and Rs 10,999, respectively.
