Honor 7x Launched With Dual Cameras: Price, Specifications

Huawei sub-brand Honor unveiled a new smartphone on Wednesday at a media event in Beijing, China. Dubbed Honor 7x, the company has switched to an 18:9 display with the device. This device truly offers a bang for the buck, and if launched at a decent price in India, it can rock the mid-range segment.

Like its predecessor, the Honor 6x, the Honor 7x features a unibody aluminum chassis and 2.5D curved glass, giving it a premium look and feel. The device sports a 5.93-inch display with a full HD+ resolution (2160 x 1080 pixels). The display has almost no bezel and an aspect ratio of 18:9 inches, making the phone much taller.

Under the hood, the Honor 7x features an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC (four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four A53 cores at 1.7GHz), a mid-range processor featured in the Huawei Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus, and the rumored Huawei Nate 10 Lite. Along with that, we get 4GB of RAM. There are three storage variants: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, which can also be expanded through micro-SD cards. The device has an IP67 waterproof lining that repels dust and water up to three and a half feet deep for 30 minutes. The phone also supports 3D surround sound.

Coming to its optics department, the Honor 7x features a dual camera setup on the back. The dual camera setup consists of a 16 megapixel + 2 megapixel assisted with phase detection auto-focus and LED flash for capturing those popular bokeh images. While the 16-megapixel consists of a regular lens, the 2-megapixel lens can sense depth, so users can deploy algorithmic software-enhanced background blur in photos after clicking a shot. There is also a fingerprint sensor below the dual cameras. On the front is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

The device is backed by a 3340mAh battery, supporting Huawei’s fast-charging SuperCharge tech. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with the EMUI 5.1 running on top. Based on the timing, we can expect Honor to release an upgradable version of Android Oreo (8.0). Also, we noticed that Honor had retained its old-school micro USB charging port instead of a USB-C.

Previously, Honor 5x and Honor 6x were released in India, so we can be almost sure that the Honor 7x will be launched in India. The device has three color options (Aurora Blue, Gold, and Black). The price starts at 1299 Yuan ( Rs 12,868.80 approx) for the 32GB, 1699 Yuan ( Rs 16,829.41 approx) for the 64GB and 1999 Yuan ( Rs 19,801.06 approx) for the 128GB variant. Sales will start in China on October 17, a day after the global launch of the Mate 10.
